Family, Life and Everyday Happenings

All posts in this series contain stories from my own life. *(If a music post has ended up in this section it means that the song has some connection to my life). I am a husband and father, a retired educator, a lifelong sports and music fan, a lover of hot tea and good company. I strive to be a good person. I have chosen to be kind.

Living a Life of Honour

Living a Life of Honour is, for me, the very best way to show respect to all of those who died in wars for Canada and who, to this day, continue to serve and protect others in the name of democracy and freedom. This post is about the value or lack thereof, of symbolic gestures. It is about being media savvy. It is about change being a part of life and of a country’s history. It is about Remembrance Day but, much bigger issues, too. I hope that you will all take the time to read my words.

Living in a Man’s World

This post is about the issue of gender and male privilege. It talks about simple ways in which women have to change and adapt who they are in order to be successful in a “man’s world”. In short, this post talks about the systemic nature of gender inequality and how we accept much of it without even realizing we are doing so. Hopefully, some good discussion will come as a result of this post.

Walking the Walk

On Friday, Leah and I and many thousands of our friends, will be marching together in Toronto to raise awareness of the consequences of Climate Change. This post talks about how close we are to going the way of the dinosaurs. It, also, talks about how our family has changed our lifestyle to lessen our impact on the planet. Thanks to all who taking your own steps to help create a healthier world for all of us.
